Our classroom is here for you.

And so are we.

The Makers Mews classroom provides our community with a unique creative space.

Seasoned professionals as well as budding makers-come-teachers can share their know-how, whilst we share our vision of more people valuing stuff + skills.

We pay according to England’s Artists’ Union, for both prep time + execution.

It’s all in the detail:

  • First step? You’re doing it, you’re reading this page.

Next, use our enquiry form below, sharing with us your workshop idea, preferred date/time/duration + how much help you would like from us.

Depending on what you choose, we’ll then…

DIY: Check the availability of the times + dates you’re after, and get in touch to have you tick the necesssary legal + safety boxes, and to confirm your booking with payment.
We’ll get in touch a few days before the event to share staff details of who will be on site with you on the day.

    Then see you there!

Do-It-Together: Like above, we’ll check availability + all the necessary tick boxes are in place, then we’ll ask you a whole host of questions to set a budget + get a marketing plan in place for you; set you up with a folder of resources designed for your event; list you on our website …and then tell the world our fun thing that’s happening!

After the event we’ll share images + videos with you, as well as reviews + contact details of attendees (with their permission), a blog + social media post, and some suggestions for what’s next!

We’ll pay you for your time, us for our time and then split any profits 50:50.

  • To be able to sell your wares and/or run a class, you need Public Liability Insurance.

This should cover you for a minimum of £5 million.

We recommend becoming a member of the Artists's Information Company for £38. This covers £10 million Public & Products Liability insurance + £5 million Professional Indemnity insurance.

Please do contact them to make sure that their policy provides appropriate cover for your specific class/event plans before purchasing.

Locally there is also Nature Save, based in Totnes + the UK’s leading green insurance provider.

Makers Mews requires you to work within our Terms + Conditions, complete + communicate a Risk Assessment (we can provide a template document to get you started), adhere to GDPR guidelines and share our accessibility information with attendees.

  • THE CLASSROOM

    • Workshop table: 153 x 271cm

    • Seats 8 and a teacher (9 stools)

    • 5 chairs with side tables (including 1 lefty).

    • We’ve an additional side table/bench that some find useful.

    • There is a blackboard + a pegboard wall.

    • There is also some shelving that could be used as a ‘pop up shop’ should you wish to sell your wares to your captive audience/new fans.

    • We’d suggest a limit of 20 standing if your event isn’t using the table.
FYI the table remains in the room.

    • We don't have a projector, but Share Shed do!

We also have an UPSTAIRS space suited to exhibitions, talks, and larger gatherings.

To the rear we have a seating area surrounding a FIREPIT. Let us know if these would be more suited to you, or if you’d like mulitple spots to do whatever you’re doing.
We don’t have a gazebo yet, but again, one can be borrowed from Share Shed (very handy friends to have!).

ACCESSIBILITY: We are in a 300 year old building which has its limitations - notably, the approach to the building is an uneven incline; the entry to the classroom is a double threshold, and our toilet is upstairs. For further acessibility information and photos, check out our Accessibility page.
